THE CONCEPT
THE PHYSICAL CONCEPT Stage 1 Will include all the earth works and installation of the relevant services - COMPLETE. Stage 2 Will see the erection of the three buildings, the construction of the wall and the completing of the car and bus parking areas and the erection of the Pylon and SMA arch - ALMOST COMPLETE.
Stage 3 Will be planning for the future. We hope to roof the area between the buildings for our larger machines and to thereby increase our inside display area. The Museum SectionComprises three aircraft hangers, placed in a quarter circle with a two metre high corrugated iron wall in front. The centre building is the main entry, with a reception area and toilet facilities. It introduces the visitor to the Snowy Scheme and the themes presented throughout the museum. The other two buildings represent life on the construction site (East Wing) and an insight on what happened behind the scenes (West Wing). The Electricity PylonStanding next to the Snowy Mountains Highway will be a huge replica of an electricity pylon under construction. This will symbolise the importance of the Snowy Scheme to Australia's electricity resources via a national grid. The Impact of the Snowy SchemeRivers, Irrigation, Electricity and the Environment- Clean Green Energy, the Murrumbidgee and Murray irrigation schemes. The big environmental questions -The views when the Snowy was planned and built and the balance sheet now. Water issues- Power issues. The Stories
