| Three Mile Camp, 1949 - The workers on the Snowy were well paid, and since there was little or nothing in the remote camps upon which they could spend their money, the Authority encouraged the Commonwealth Bank to establish savings branches. Many workers saved considerable amounts ? sufficient, in some cases, to start their own businesses once the Scheme was finished. |
