Snowy 60th Reunion Programme for Booking as at 31 Aug.MEMBERS PROGRAM TO ENABLE PLANS & BOOKINGS TO BE MADE60TH REUNION OPTIONS OVERVIEW: The detailed program in broad outline from October 15th through to 22nd is given below. (a) Thursday to Tuesday, principally for a Cooma activity, will have assistance to connect with old haunts, visit local exhibitions/galleries, take a historic train ride to Chakola, meet with other Reunion visitors; all supported by 60th Reunion Volunteers who will find solutions to your request. (b) On Thursday and Tuesday we offer a three-day luxury, unique, conducted coach tour (one coach since accommodation is limited) through the Snowy Mountains, identifying many construction sites and the towns and campsites, and some of the hydro works in all Regions of the Scheme in the beautiful Kosciuszko National Park. Two nights accommodation with breakfast, in Khancoban and Tumut, before returning to Cooma is included in the package. Evening meal costs are extra, paid individually. On Monday we offer a one day coach tour to Kosciuszko Region with return to Cooma. It is possible to accompany any sector of the coach tours by private vehicle provided the car registration is lodged with us. (c) Special 60th Reunion meals with a local group's activity will be available in Cooma and Adaminaby, as listed, for firm bookings. Other eating venues in Cooma and Adaminaby are also available. (d) On Friday Adaminaby Reunion dinner at the School of Arts Hall is now cancelled. Cooma will host a self serve dinner at the Ex-Services Club. In the early mid day the Cooma Trout Acclimatisation Society will host a barbecue for Reunion Members at Bidgee Lodge on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. Assemble at 11am. (e) Saturday will be Adaminaby's full 60th Reunion day, including local district tours, with the highlight being a re-enactment of the starting ceremony on 17 October 60 years ago (1949). A coach will be available to travel from Cooma to Adaminaby and return. The Canberra and Pambula coaches will not run on this day. Adaminaby will hold dinners at the Snow Goose and also at the Bowling Club on Saturday evening. Cooma will hold their main Reunion dinner at the Cooma Ex-Services Club on Saturday evening with another dinner being held at the Alpine Hotel with the band 'K-Links' providing the music. (f) Sunday will be the main 60th Reunion day in Cooma at the Showground starting at 10am for the rock bolting engineering heritage award ceremony celebrating the international achievement that remains best practice. Alternatively, the monthly Market Day in Centennial Park will have special 60th Reunion rolling stage entertainment items and food. Reunion groupings will be made during the afternoon at the Showground. The consulting engineering group that was formed out of SMHEA and that is now a huge international private company, SMEC, will have guided tours at the old SMHEA Scientific Services Laboratories throughout the day. Light refreshments will be available at SMEC in support of their charity "SMEC Foundation". Coaches will no longer run from Canberra and Pambula on this day. Cooma will hold a main Reunion lunch at the Showground on Sunday. There will also be steak and sausage sandwiches for sale. (g) For those able to be in Canberra, there is an excellent exhibition "Power for the People" on at the National Archives Australia celebrating the 60th anniversary for SMHEA's start see naa.gov.au . (h) Snowy Hydro Limited has released the way they will be marking the 60th Anniversary. So please refresh your viewing of this space to get that release. It does include significant benefits to Reunion Members at their Cooma Information and Education Centre. BOOKINGS AND PRE-PAYMENTS BY MEMBERS:All of the tours and the special meals are not oversubscribed. We request that you book at the earliest date. Pre-payments will be required to accompany the booking where indicated in the Program below. Should numbers exceed capacity, we will contact you immediately and refund the booking pre-payment. If you have made your Membership Registration, please refer to the Bookings data entry at the bottom of this page and submit. At the same time make arrangements to deposit your Bookings payment by the method you choose. You may benefit from reading the 60th Reunion Options Overview, above,as another source of helpful advice to know the limitations of our help. Please name who is attending under your family membership. We also require the numbers attending events. Bookings can be made either at our website, by mail or by phoning the Cooma Call Centre. Payments are to be made (in A$) either by cash to Snowy Scheme Association Committee, cheque in the mail, or by direct deposit into our Bank account using your unique Reference Number (as used in Registration). A WELCOME / RECEPTION LOCATION FOR MEMBERS:Throughout the 60th Reunion days, Thursday to Thursday and beforehand, a shop-front at the entrance to Centennial Plaza shopping centre will be your 60th Reunion Reception Centre. We will endeavour to serve all 60th Reunion Members by giving directions and support for your needs and issuing any outstanding paid-for tickets to tours and meals. This does not mean 24 hr manning, but the 60th Reunion Reception, which is located centrally (opposite the Cooma Visitor's Centre located beside Centennial Park in the main street) in Sharp Street/Snowy Mountains Highway, will endeavour to help you in any way we can. There is off-street parking in the Coles Supermarket of Centennial Plaza that has its entrance from Commissioner Street to the left side of Sharp Street, if you are travelling in a southerly direction. MAKE YOUR OWN ACCOMMODATION ARRANGEMENTS:Cooma has only limited accommodation, so it is expected that the surrounding townships and the snowfield resorts will be utilised. Please make your own arrangements for accommodation and mention Snowy 60th for special attention. MEMBER-BENEFIT - PASS CONCESSION TO KOSCIUSZKO NATIONAL PARK ON REUNION EVENTA generous concession has been made to 60th Reunion Members entering the Kosciuszko National Park on our coach tours and also for people travelling in their own car to accompany a tour. National Park &Wildlife Service has waived the normal daily entry fee of $6.60 for each coach passenger and $16.00 for a car each day.
