CONSTRUCTION OF ADAMINABY SNOWY SCHEME MUSEUM TO BEGIN AT LAST

Our long awaited Regional Tourism Project is about to become a reality.

After receiving confirmation of funding from the Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the museum committee has continued to pursue all necessary approvals in order to commence building on site. There have been numerous delays, including designing an appropriate shared driveway with the Adaminaby Bowling Club to provide access to the museum site from the Snowy Mountains Highway.

RTA approval of the shared driveway was received last week and a Construction Certificate for Stage 1 – Site establishment earthworks was issued by the Snowy River Shire Council this week. The earthworks include those for a car park, building platforms, engineering services and the site entry. Local earthmoving contractor Richard McMahon has been engaged to prepare the site for Stage 2 of the project, comprising three pavilion style buildings with a feature community art wall.

The Committee is continuing to organise the expanding collection in preparation for the installation of the first building exhibits.

Construction start on site is expected this month. This is a very exciting time for the Committee and the many supporters of the museum project who have waited a long time for this imminent commencement on site.

The Museum project will be provided from a "shoe string" budget, with its Committee and supporters putting in long hours as in kind contributions. The support of the Snowy River Shire Council for the project has been unfailing.
